About Us: Ko Wai Mātou
Rangitira Riders was founded by Joshua Morgan, a horseman with over 30 years of experience in the saddle and a deep dedication to traditional horsemanship. Built alongside a team of like-minded people, our vision is to create a space where local youth can disconnect from the noise, connect with the land, and find their strength. Our program is grounded in tikanga Māori.
Aroha ki te Hōiho (Passion for Horses)
Our connection with the horse goes beyond the ordinary. Through bareback riding, we strip away the barriers to feel the horse's heartbeat, teaching us balance and fostering a deep, silent bond of mutual respect, while always keeping things safe and simple.
Wairua Whanaungatanga (Community Spirit)
No one rides alone here. We are a welcoming, tight-knit club that supports everyone on their horse riding journey, ensuring each rider has the backing of the whole herd.
Alliances and Pathways
We are proud to partner with the Waikato Mounted Games Association. This alliance opens up incredible pathways for our rangatahi, offering them the chance to develop their skills and potentially represent New Zealand on a bigger stage. It’s about giving our youth the backing to dream big and reach the highest levels of horsemanship.
Inclusive Whānau
While our program is deeply rooted in tikanga Māori, our doors are open to everyone. We welcome riders from all walks of life who want to join our whānau, learn our values, and ride together with respect and pride.
